Summary:This research project presents as a study proposal the following object: the right, housing and the commodification of the city. Its general objective is to understand the processes of land commodification and housing financialization from the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, having as reference the residential “Quinta dos Paricás”, in Belém (PA), in an analysis of the current Brazilian housing model and its consequences in society, with regard to the relationship established between housing. The specific objectives are: to analyze the process of construction of urban space and housing in the residential “Quinta dos Paricás”; reflect on the socio-spatial segregation process and its impacts on the lives of the project's residents; understand the issue of the commodification of the city and its effects on the residential. The research will be developed from the perspective of historical-dialectical materialism, with Marxist inspiration, believing that this method makes it possible to approach reality through the unveiling of multiple determinations. The following methodological procedures will be carried out: bibliographical research, documental analysis and field research, articulating the steps in a single product of theoretical construction. The bibliographical review will include the reading of authors who deal with housing, urban space, segregation, social struggles, land financing, housing commodification, housing policy and housing program. In the document analysis stage, the survey and consultation of official documents will be carried out that will provide theoretical support for the research, namely: surveys and reports produced by technicians who work in the management and operation of the program in the municipality, decrees, ordinances, laws, as well as sites specialized in official information on the subject will be consulted. In field research, the intention is to use the semi-structured interview technique. A priori, six interviews will be carried out: three with residents of the enterprise, one with the manager of the financial agent (bank) and one with two technicians from the social area of the representative of the government (city hall). It is understood that, emphasizing the discussion on the issue of the commodification of the city and housing will enable both the understanding of the organization within this marketing perspective, as well as knowing the impact of the entire process on the lives of residents.
