Dissertation project title: PROFESSIONAL WORK IN PANDEMIC TIMES: A study on institutional requests made to social workers who work in Social Assistance and Health Policies in the Metropolitan Region of Belém

ABSTRACT: This research project is linked to the research entitled "Societal Projects in dispute in times of pandemics and the professional practice of the Social Worker in Pará/legal Amazon" under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Cilene Braga in partnership with the Regional Council of Social Service of the State of Pará (CRESS-PA 1st Region). The central category of this study is the professional work of social workers in Social Assistance Policy and in the area of health in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the objective of analyzing the institutional requests made to social workers who worked in Social Assistance and Health Policy during the period from 2020 to 2021, as well as to point out the main changes and challenges for the professional category. It is characterized as descriptive, using as theoretical and methodological support the historical and dialectical materialism elaborated by Marx. As a methodological procedure bibliographic research was adopted, using the Thesis Catalog as a database. Dissertations from CAPES and Google Scholar, and documentary, based on the guidelines norms of the CFESS/CRESS set and legislation relevant to work in the context of
pandemic. We adopted Bardin's content analysis technique of the data collected from the research in which this project is linked. The literature review pointed out that the context of public calamity caused by COVID-19 brought changes and challenges for the work, and mainly to put into debate the fundamental role of the social worker in cases of public calamity.
