ABSTRACT: This project seeks to shed light on the professional work of the social worker who is part of a logic permeated with daily challenges and difficulties in the area of Social Assistance Policy. The central question then is to understand the particularity of Social Work in the process of developing the aforementioned policy, evidencing the search for understanding of the professional performance that is carried out under the current conjuncture perspective of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the new requests and demands placed on social work added to the development of the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operative dimensions. Thus, the general objective aims to analyze the professional work of the Social Worker in the implementation of the Social Assistance Policy in the municipality of Maracanã/Pa, in view of the particularity of the profession, presenting as specific objectives: a) Compreender a atuação do Serviço Social no contexto da Política de Assistência Social; b) Identificar as particularidades das dimensões teórica-metodológica, ético-política e técnico-operativas do assistente social na assistência social; c) Apreender os desafios e dificuldades no trabalho do assistente social na assistência social realizada no município de Maracanã/Pa; and d) To verify the demands and requests given to social workers in the face of the pandemic of the covid-19. The method used was dialectical historical materialism and the methodology adopted is based on a qualitative research, based on methodological procedures: bibliographic, documentary and field research.
