Abstract: This research project aims to provide opportunities for reflections on the challenges faced by female heads of household undergoing treatment for breast and cervical cancer in public cancer hospitals in Belém/PA. For this, it is intended to characterize about the changes occurred in family arrangements, since we live different realities that influence the construction of these arrangements beyond the traditional bourgeois model, with emphasis on the model in which the woman is the head of the family. Reflect on the phenomenon of female family head, and the historical factors that marked the formation of this model, and the called the feminization of poverty. Discuss the determinants that influence the lack of access to health actions and services, as well as the association of women with care or feminization of care. In this sense, this study seeks to identify the challenges that women face in a context of social, gender, class and racial inequality to obtain the diagnosis and treatment of the most prevalent cancers in women, as well as to describe the social reception performed by Social Work professionals, in the perception of women served.
